SEER2 stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. Think of it like MPG for your car — the higher the number, the less energy your system uses and the lower your utility bills.
As of January 2023, the Department of Energy requires all new residential AC systems sold in the U.S. to meet minimum SEER2 standards. In the Southeast (including Georgia), the minimum is 14.3 SEER2 for central air conditioners.
